Jo Twiss

Jo Twiss, RCSHom

Jo Twiss, RCSHom is a classical homeopath practising in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada.  She joined the World Homeopathy Awareness Organization’s Board in 2019, representing Canadian Society of Homeopaths (CSH), which coordinates Homeopathy Awareness Month across Canada.

Jo was born in British Columbia but grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Her previous career involved over 20 years managing public libraries in BC.  She was introduced to homeopathy “by accident, or perhaps fate” when a very sick cat came into her life.  At first, she was interested only in treating her animals and, with that in mind, she applied for the Foundation Year at Vancouver Homeopathic Academy with Murray Feldman.  Soon, however, she was hooked on homeopathy and stayed on for the full 4-year programme.

Jo was first invited to join the Board of West Coast Homeopathic Society (WCHS) in 2001 due to her interest in political action, and later she became Treasurer and then President.  Since 2006, she has been President of Canadian Society of Homeopaths, which promotes high requirements of training and professional standards for homeopaths in Canada and fosters a broad acceptance of homeopathy as a viable health care option.

Jo has been active in homeopathic public awareness and education for over 20 years.  With West Coast Homeopathic Society in 2004, she organized the first national Homeopathy Awareness Week in Canada, with events held from sea to sea (Pacific to Atlantic).  Later in 2004 and 2005, WCHS supported the first World Homeopathy Awareness campaign in recognition of the 250th anniversary of Hahnemann’s birth.

Previously Jo has been Vice-president of the Canadian Coalition for Homeopathic Medicine, 2001-2002.  She has been extremely interested in monitoring and consulting on political issues affecting homeopathy with both the Canadian federal and some provincial governments.  Other homeopathic responsibilities have included head of Social media promotions; website designer and administrator of
www.csoh.ca and www.wchs.info; managing editor of the quarterly journal, Homeopathy Now, 2003-2005; and content and copy editor of NASH News, 1998-2002.

In her view, the most important aspect of homeopathy is that it is a reflection of universal truths.  She adds, “Homeopathy has completely changed my focus in life, becoming an essential part of my spiritual journey.”

In the future, Jo sees homeopathy having a great impact nationally and internationally.  “Homeopathy Awareness is the start of something really big for homeopathy,” she says.  “Not only will it give homeopaths an opportunity to educate the public, we will be reaching people in government and the media as well.  They all will need to go hand-in-hand if there is to be meaningful social change.”
